If you enjoy the outdoors and have some spare time, volunteer for Brisbane City Council. There are plenty of environmental programs and roles where you can help. You could learn about the reserves around you by working at one of the council's environment centres. You can share your knowledge of plant collections of the Botanic Gardens by becoming a volunteer guide. You can volunteer at Habitat Brisbane to help keep Brisbane clean, green, and sustainable. You’ll restore natural habitats in parks, bushland, wetlands, and along waterways. Or you can try volunteering at your local community composting hub. You'll learn composting skills while helping to reduce food waste to landfill. It’s a great way to meet like-minded people and keep active and involved in your community. You’ll enjoy keeping busy, having a sense of purpose, and making a positive impact.
